A Mermaid's Delight: Rye Flour Scones and Little Sea Princess Tea

Dear tea-loving friends and fae,

You may remember that earlier this month we were supposed to participate in a mermaid themed retreat with Marianne, the talented fairy behind the photography experience company "Lost Lands Collections".

{She took these gorgeous photos for us}
-
 This retreat was going to include a swim in glittering mermaid lagoons, mermaid tails, and siren gowns to take photos in, daytime adventures, and a three-night stay in a fairytale mansion. It was also going to include a mermaid-themed tea, party curated by none other than our very own Lead Fairy Godmother.
The whole tea menu was inspired by our Little Sea Princess tea, which, as you know, is inspired by the classic tale of The Little Mermaid by Hans Christian Andersen.
-
Unfortunately, the event didn’t gain a lot of traction and ended up being canceled.
-
{Side note: Marianne, if you're reading this we would love to create other fairy tale themed tea party menus for retreats in the future.}

 Fairy Tale Teas Rye Scones And Little Sea Princess Tea

The Menu that Almost Was

Even though the treats on this menu weren't tasted by the mermaids attending the would be retreat, we figured that the recipes were too good to not share with all of you!
One of the star dishes on our would-be menu was this batch of Rye Flour Scones, which were specially crafted for The Little Mermaid and her family.
We decided to go with rye flour to pay tribute to the land of Denmark, a.k.a. the home of the little mermaid herself. These scones have a wonderfully rich flavor due to the addition of rye flour, but are no less delicious than scones that you would typically have at any other afternoon tea party. They don’t rise as high, because rye flour tends to be a lot more dense, but they pair perfectly well with clotted cream and your jam of choice (we went with blueberry jam, of course).
When we host the Little Mermaid here in our enchanted forest, we'll be sure that these are prepared with several piping hot cups of blue shimmering Little Sea Princess tea. This blue tea is a delicate blend of blueberry white tea, butterfly pea flowers, honeysuckle, dried blueberries, and Iridescent Blue Pixie Dust. It's the taste of a seaside adventure, a sip of ocean breezes, and a hint of mermaid magic.
