What is the Fairytale Epicurean?
Fairy Tale Epicurean:
{fair-ee teyl ep-i-kyoo-ree-uhn}
noun
Someone who enjoys fine food with a sense of magic and imagination.
Friends and fae, you may have noticed that our emails have moved over to a platform called Substack. We are going to combine our new Substack with our blog going forward!
As many of you know, here at Gilded Coach Teas, we create tea blends inspired by fairytales from all over the world. It is our aim to infuse magic into the mundane and add whimsy where most wouldn’t look for it.
As the Lead Fairy Godmother and tea alchemist of GCT, my dream has always been to provide a physical space that reflects the magic that we bring to teacups worldwide. Picture THE MOST glorious specialty foods store. Ever. Created.
There are our teas of course, but there are also ingredients chiefly read about in stories, ie. magic beans from Jack and the Bean Stalk, pears from the tree Aschenputtel hides from her step sisters in, pre-packaged rampion salads using the same recipe as Rapunzel’s mother…
I know that I sound fairy tale obsessed—I am, but dream with me for a moment, will you? Imagine an expansive section of the store that caters to foodstuffs for different magical creatures {a la the foreign/cultural aisle at your local grocery store} such as fairies and giants. Enchanted potions that double as simple syrups. Even a cafe! I could go on.
While I am admittedly far from realizing this goal of having a brick and mortar location for all of you fairies and fae to visit, for now we’ll congregate in this digital space where we’ll give you updates on all things GCT, recipes from “the cafe”, and daydream about all the fairytale products we want to stock here at The Fairytale Epicurean.
I also want to add that you should try to come visit us at markets when we start them back up again. We make it a point to bring a fantasy grocer feel to our pop ups.
Wishing you an enchanted teatime,
Marissa Valenzuela
