May To Do List

We hope our friends and fae are enjoying their month of May so far. We are excited for the month of May, especially since the Met Gala is coming up on May 6th! There are so many things to look forward to this month so we wanted to share what we are watching, reading, eating, wearing, and drinking. This series is inspired by Selkie’s monthly “to-do” series, along with this post of ours, both of which you should definitely check out along with their entire blog and diary.

Now, without further ado, we bring you a magical to-do list for the month of May!

1.

WATCHING

Met Gala 2024 Costume Institute exhibition at The Metropolitan Museum of Art
Met Gala 2024 Costume Institute exhibition at The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The 2024 Costume Institute exhibition at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, titled “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” will feature approximately 250 items drawn from the Costume Institute’s permanent collection, many of which have rarely been seen in public before. This year’s 2024 Met Gala dress code is “The Garden of Time.” Inspired by J.G. Ballard’s short story of the same title, written in 1962, the dress code can be interpreted in many different ways. According to Vogue, we’ll likely see many floral and botanical looks, coming straight out of fairy tales.

READING

Sleeping Beauty by Charles Perrault book

To go along with the 2024 Costume Institute exhibition at The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s called “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion”, of course we choose the legendary fairy tale of Sleeping Beauty by Charles Perrault. Along with the collections of Andersen, Lang, and the Grimm Brothers, the fairy tales of Charles Perrault are among the great books of European fairy tales. Enjoy this classic story of Sleeping Beauty along with vintage illustrations!

DRINKING

Gilded Coach Teas Enchanted Slumber Tea
Gilded Coach Teas Enchanted Slumber Tea

Our theme for this month is Sleeping Beauty, which makes our Enchanted Slumber tea the perfect choice of drink. This tea is inspired by the fanciful story of Sleeping Beauty as told by Charles Perrault in the version by the Grimm Brothers. The tea consists of rose buds, luscious raspberries, bright lemons, and chamomile in just the right amounts to make it an instant favorite. Fragrant Egyptian roses emulate the creeping rose vines that covered the kingdom and castle walls during the 100 years that Princess Briar Rose was asleep. The addition of chamomile is great for easing anxiety and aiding with sleep. This tea is caffeine free and perfect for winding down before your Enchanted Slumber. Perhaps consider drinking it from a teacup such as this...

4.

EATING

fruit tartlets with lemon-tarragon syrup

We think these fruit tartlets with lemon-tarragon syrup will go well with our Enchanted Slumber tea! Just like how these fruit tartlets have flavors of lemon and berries such as raspberries, our Enchanted Slumber tea also has flavors of lemons and raspberries. Try these tartlets for an indoor/evening picnic for dessert as you sip your Enchanted Slumber tea to calm, relax, and wind down for the rest of the night.

WEARING

Selkie's "The Garden Roses Silk Gauze Ritz Gown"

As this year's Met Gala dress code is "The Garden of Time", we'll likely see many floral and botanical looks gracing the famed Met Gala red carpet. We think Selkie's "The Garden Roses Silk Gauze Ritz Gown" perfectly encapsulates the Met Gala theme with its beautiful rose pattern. We also think this stunning dress is what Princess Briar Rose would wear as she goes along her day.
